Description: The Annenberg Institute at Brown University is seeking postdoctoral research associates for two?year fellowships focused on education policy. We seek fellows with interests in developing and applying their skills in rigorous empirical education policy analysis and in working in research-practice partnerships at the state and district level. Applicants should have a substantive interest in school improvement and/or policies to improve educational outcomes for under-served students. The fellows will receive mentorship and training from the faculty sponsors, primarily through an active research apprenticeship and collaboration. In addition, they will be part of the broader Annenberg community including faculty and students at Brown University, visiting faculty and students, and other postdoctoral fellows.

Full Description:
The Annenberg Institute at Brown University is seeking postdoctoral research associates for two?year fellowships focused on education policy. We seek fellows with interests in developing and applying their skills in rigorous empirical education policy analysis and in working in research-practice partnerships at the state and district level. Applicants should have a substantive interest in school improvement and/or policies to improve educational outcomes for under-served students. As examples, one postdoctoral fellow will participate in collaborative research activities with Matthew Kraft and John Papay on issues related to teacher effectiveness and the teacher labor market in U.S. K-12 public schools. A second fellow will work with Susanna Loeb on partnerships with Rhode Island schools addressing a range of questions related to the distribution of educational opportunities and outcomes. The fellows will receive mentorship and training from the faculty sponsors, primarily through an active research apprenticeship and collaboration. In addition, they will be part of the broader Annenberg community including faculty and students at Brown University, visiting faculty and students, and other postdoctoral fellows.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a PhD in Education, Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Psychology, Public Policy, or a related field by the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship (Between July 1 and September 1, 2019). Candidates should have strong substantive expertise in K-12 education policy and strong quantitative research skills. Review of applications will begin January 21, 2019, but we may consider applications received after that date until the position is filled. The post-doctoral research associate position is envisioned as a two-year position, although the second year is contingent upon successful performance and funding.
