POSITION SUMMARY:



Responsible for all aspects of the assessment work related to Colorado Shines as well as additional assessment projects or fee-for-service work when needed. Quality Rating Specialist are expected to maintain their expertise by continuous professional development and the capability of conducting reliable assessments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fluent in both spoken and written communication in Spanish.
Conduct observations in early education and/or school age classrooms throughout Colorado to assess quality using the Environment Rating Scales. Visit classrooms, unobtrusively observe for approximately three hours, and record detailed notes on designated scoresheets. Caseloads vary each month, expect roughly 8-10 observations per month.
Collect and check program data during observation visits including observable standards defined by Colorado Shines. Note physical evidence accessible, ask follow-up questions of the program staff when needed, and record detailed notes on the checklist.
Attain and uphold reliability on the appropriate Environmental Rating Scales to maintain expertise and prevent rater drift. Complete inter-rater reliability observations with the State Anchor Team and achieve an 85% or higher every 10th-12thobservation.
Provide orientation phone calls to program staff, communicating Colorado Shines expectations, documentation requirements, and Environment Rating Scale resources to prepare them for their upcoming rating.
Attend all required trainings and meetings facilitated by the State Anchor Team, organization, and other partners, and attend additional assigned trainings for position proficiency as needed.
Produce quality feedback reports, explaining the observational data collected to inform classroom teachers and program staff. Describe strengths, areas of improvement, and recommend solutions. Generate reports 24-48 hours after each observation.
Provide phone consultations to teachers and program staff, communicating assessment results and answering questions. Contact programs the month following their rating window to schedule a consultation. Caseloads vary each month, expect approximately 4-5 consultations each month.
Establish monthly schedules for observations to plan and organize workload. Review calendar utilizing Microsoft Outlook the month prior to assigned caseload, select observation dates based on program information, and enter all details of each appointment.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Minimum education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in early childhood education, education, curriculum and instruction, or adult learning.

Work experience in positions similar to this job: Three years of experience working in an early childhood setting.

SPECIAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience using the Environment Rating Scales and/or CLASS® as assessment tools in early childhood environments. Reliability in one of the Environment Rating Scales and the PreK CLASS® tool preferred.
